Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management, and Management
Wanting to start her own business one day, Hannah鈥檚 BCom degree studies are built around organisational skills and personnel management.
"I took and absolutely loved it. I enjoy the wide variety of courses on offer and that every course was different, and was a mix of individual and group work. The degree will provide me with a platform of skills that can be utilised in a variety of ways," she says. "I could have taken my Commerce degree anywhere in New 蜜桃儿直播 but Canterbury is home and UC is one of the best."
Hannah鈥檚 favourite part about studying with UC are the extra opportunities available beyond lectures. During her second year Hannah received a Prime Minister鈥檚 Scholarship for Asia, which funded a study trip to Zhejiang Gongshang University in Hangzhou, China, as part of the course.
"It was an amazing experience and one that I would repeat in a heartbeat if it was possible. I learnt so much about the Chinese culture and how business is conducted in a vastly different part of the world. I would 100% recommend the course to other students."
Another amazing experience was an internship in her third year with the Waimakariri District Council developing a project on Workplace Wellbeing.
"This involved research into what 鈥渨ellbeing鈥 entails, the creation of a workplace questionnaire, the analysis of the data and the creation of a report. This information will then be used to form the basis of WDC鈥檚 Workplace Wellbeing Strategy over the next year," she says.
"Throughout the internship I learnt a wide variety of skills including how to communicate with people of different levels throughout an organisation, how to write and format reports for management, as well as furthering my knowledge on how to research and analyse data."
"During the internship I gained a real life picture of what working in an organisation is like, and I also grew in confidence to work in this different environment. I found this to be really valuable and it鈥檚 not a skill you gain through typical university courses. I believe this experience will greatly benefit my future as a result."
She advises other Commerce students to take advantage of similar experiences to help them realise their passions.
"Go for it, look at the courses on offer and choose what interests you most. Get involved and make the most of every opportunity that comes you way as UC has a lot to offer."
