Creating a more sustainable world, one decision at a time

Hosted by the Centre for Entrepreneurship and the UC Business School, Impact Summit 2020 was held at the 蜜桃儿直播 on October 10th and focused on empowering over 150 people to contribute to a more sustainable future.

HOW TO APPLY

The Summit began with an inspiring presentation from听Malcolm Rands, the 鈥楨coman鈥.听Ecostore co-founder and Fairground Foundation executive chairman, Malcolm shared his journey of building a million-dollar company driven by purpose. Both the environment and people's health are at his heart. Participants heard insights about starting small, dreaming big, testing ideas, having support from the wh膩nau and thinking differently. Malcolm鈥檚 key message was to 'imagine the future and do it'.听

Participants had the choice to take part in two of the seven interactive workshops delivered by a combination of 蜜桃儿直播 academics and industry leaders.听Participants learnt everything from understanding the global sustainable development goals to making better choices with understanding labels on the products they buy, through communicating with integrity and passion or again, brainstorming ways of reducing their own carbon footprint. They left confident that every individual action counts, at home, at work and in their community.

Rod Oram, international award-winning journalist, emceed throughout the afternoon and facilitated the panel discussion. As an experienced MC and passionate about sustainability, Rod Oram gave participants the right energy to start taking action.

The Summit concluded with four sustainability experts and entrepreneurs:听Brianne West, Veronica Stevenson, Logan Williams and Tony Moore. Panellists shared tips about developing sustainable products, understanding consumers expectations and building fairness at all stages of business development.听 One key message that the entire panel agreed on was that we can鈥檛 recycle our way into sustainability 鈥 we must change the way we听create and consume!
