The Mechanical Engineering Department offers approximately 45-50 Industry Projects each year as part of the accredited BE (Hons) degree program. In their final year, students work in teams of four on real-world engineering projects, supported by industry sponsors, as well as academic and technical staff. The projects span a wide range of topics and deliverables, including collaborations with external organizations, research initiatives, student-driven innovations, and projects for non-profit organizations. Key focus areas for these projects include the design, analysis, manufacturing as well as development of products for the agricultural and food industries, advancements in automotive technology, sports engineering, assistive devices for people with disabilities, aerospace, and biomedical engineering, among others.
