Health and wellbeing concerns everybody at every stage of life.

Health Sciences study at UC will prepare you to contribute in a meaningful and practical way to the health issues affecting our communities in Aotearoa and overseas.

Health Sciences

What will my study involve?

  • Study a range of topics such as health services, mental health and wellbeing, sexual health, gender identity, environmental effects on communities, M膩ori and Indigenous people's health, and more.
  • Choose from a Certificate in Health Sciences, a Diploma in Health Sciences, or a Bachelor of Health Sciences which includes four major subjects and a wide range of minor options.
  • Opportunities to complete work internships in health-related workplaces.

UC offers a Certificate in Health Sciences , a Diploma in Health Sciences , and a Bachelor of Health Sciences examining health services, policies, and lifestyles in Aotearoa.

Bachelor of Health Sciences

As well as core courses in health studies, you will study towards one of the following majors:

Whether it is looking at technological interventions, health education, sociology behind health and illness, the pros and cons of Aotearoa New 蜜桃儿直播鈥檚 health system, how to build resilience, or public and policy issues, there is broad scope to find an area of health that interests you.

Postgraduate health studies at UC

Postgraduate students in Health Sciences come from a range of backgrounds. Students with an interest in the health sector and a good (and relevant) bachelor's degree, or health professional qualification, may apply for entry to a postgraduate certificate, a postgraduate diploma, a research master's, or a professional practice-based master's. Endorsements are available in Health Behaviour Change, Health and Community, Health Information Management, Environment and Health, Nursing, and Palliative Care.

With the appropriate prerequisites, you may take a health-related postgraduate programme specialising in Counselling, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Child and Family Psychology, Palliative Care, or Specialist Teaching.

UC also offers a Doctor of Health Sciences.

Health has many applications and job opportunities across different areas - from patient care, medical technologies, community education, to government.

Your social, political, and cultural awareness of health and wellbeing will make you well suited to working with or on behalf of people.

Career pathways could include:
