UC offers a range of scholarships to help our undergraduate students. Check out some of the Engineering and Forestry undergraduate scholarships available at UC.

HOW TO APPLY

This is a summary list of many of the UC Scholarships that are available for students enrolled in an undergraduate degree in the Engineering or Forestry disciplines at UC.

Each scholarship has different eligibility criteria so check the details of each one to find out if you're eligible.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $5,000 for one year; plus provided a suitable position is available, AECOM may offer the recipient paid employment during the summer at the end of the year of tenure.

Details: To encourage and support students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha Ҷֱ to undertake a career in Civil or Natural Resources Engineering. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in the Second or Third year of a BE(Hons) programme in Civil Engineering or Natural Resources Engineering. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.

Closing date: 31 March

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $10,000 for one year; plus a guaranteed place in the Summer Start-Up Programme run by the Centre for Entrepreneurship.

Details: To inspire and encourage Product Design students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Ҷֱ to apply their knowledge and skills to create impactful products with a focus on the future. Applicants must be undertaking their capstone project course in their final year of a BProdDesign degree programme. Projects from any discipline within the School of Product Design are eligible. Industry-sponsored projects are not eligible for the award.

Closing date: End of Semester 2 - applications are made through the School of Product Design

Value: Financial assistance to the value of $3,000 (Second or Third Year students); $5,000 (Fourth year students) for one year

Details: To support and promote study in the BE(Hons) programmes at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Ҷֱ and Te Whare Wānanga o Tāmaki Makaurau | The University of Auckland. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents. Applicants must be enrolled in a BE(Hons) programme in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and can be either enrolled for: (a) Second Year at UC (8 scholarships available), Third year at UC (8 scholarships available) or Fourth Year at UC or Part IV at the University of Auckland (8 scholarships available).

Closing date: 31 March

Value: Financial assistance up to the value of $3,000 (Third year students), $3,500 (Fourth year students), or $5,000 (Phil Gillon Memorial Scholarship)

Details: To support undergraduate BE(Hons) students studying full-time at 300-level (up to 3 scholarships available) or 400-level (up to 2 scholarships available plus 1 Phil Gillon Memorial Scholarship), who demonstrate the potential to become outstanding professional engineers. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.

Value: Financial assistance at the value of $2,500 for one year

Details: To support engineering students attending UC, particularly overseas engineering students,who are considered likely in their future lives to promote and foster racial tolerance, co-operation, and understanding.Applicants must have previously completed or been exempted from the First Year of a BE(Hons) degree and are now enrolled full-time in their second, third or fourth year of a BE(Hons) degree at UC.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of at least $4,000 for one year; plus an opportunity of mentoring with a member of .

Details:This scholarship offers financial assistance and industry connections and advice, to Māori and Pacific undergraduate Engineering students at UC. Applicants must have whakapapa Māori and/or Pacific; and be enrolled at UC in the Third Year of a BE(Hons) programme.

Value: Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, to the value of $2,000 for one year

Details: To support undergraduate Engineering students at the Ҷֱ, with preference given to those who did not come to university directly from school, but who worked in the intervening period. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in the Second, Third or Fourth year of a BE(Hons) degree programme.

Value: Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, up to the value of $2,000 for one year

Details: To assist students proceeding with the BE(Hons) degree. Applicants must be full-time students at UC who have completed, or been exempted from, the First Year Engineering year, and are now in their Second, Third or Fourth year of a BE(Hons) degree.

Closing date: 31 March

Value: Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, up to the value of $4,500 for one year.

Details: To support undergraduate Engineering students at UC who have interests or capabilities relevant to electricity generation/transmission/distribution, electrical power systems, or electricity utilisation/products/plant. Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in the Fourth Year of a BE(Hons) degree at UC. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $5,000 for one year

Details:To support undergraduate and postgraduate honours students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Ҷֱ who have an interest in the energy needs of Aotearoa New Ҷֱ.Applicants must be enrolled full-time at the University in the third or fourth year of a programme for an undergraduate degree or a postgraduate honours degree with a major in an Economics, Engineering, or Science subject, or in another subject of relevance to the energy needs of Aotearoa New Ҷֱ. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.

Value: Financial assistance with the costs associated with university student, up to the value of $2,000 for one year

Details: To recognise and support promising female scholars at UC who are in the Second Year of a BE(Hons) degree specialising in Civil Engineering or Natural Resources Engineering. Applicants must be female and Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.

Value: Financial assistance of $3,000 (two scholarships available) or $8,000 (one scholarship available)

Details: To support full-time students in courses in the field of building services in the BE(Hons) degree programme at UC. Applicants must have completed and be enrolled in certain papers, see Regulations for details.

Value: Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, up to the value of $7,000 for one year

Details: To provide financial assistance to enable students to obtain tertiary qualifications in the sciences with the potential to contribute to the technological wealth of New Ҷֱ. Applicants must be under 25 years of age when applying for the scholarship and studying full-time in an undergraduate degree programme in any physical science subject, such as chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, mathematics, and applied sciences. They must have successfully completed at least one year of tertiary study at Lincoln University, Ҷֱ, or Ara Institute of Canterbury and must have had not less than four years' secondary schooling in a (excluding state-integrated) within the boundaries of the .

Value: Financial assistance up to the value of $1,000 for one year

Details: To provide financial assistance to students who are in their final year of the BE(Hons) degree at UC. Applicants must have completed, or been exempted from, all the subjects of their Second and Third Year of their BE(Hons).

Value: (a) financial assistance with tuition fees up to a value of $6,000; (b) if a suitable position is available, on the recipient’s completion of a BE(Hons) degree programme, the recipient is offered a continuing employment contract with Jacobs New Ҷֱ Ltd. The contract includes a signing bonus of $1,000; (c) if position is available, a ten-week period of vacation employment with Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., paid at market rates and creditable to ENGR 200 Engineering Work Experience (during the months of November to February at the end of the year of tenure and/or during another agreed period).

Details: To assist and encourage Engineering students towards a career in the engineering profession. Up to 10 scholarships are available nationally. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents and be enrolled full-time in the Third year of a BE(Hons) degree programme.

Value: Financial assistance at the value of $4,000 for one year

Details: To reward the academic achievement of a student who is currently enrolled for the final year of the BE(Hons) degree in Civil Engineering at the Ҷֱ.

Value: (a) Tuition fees support to a value of $3,000 per annum for up to 360 points of enrolment; (b) a singlestipend of $1,000; (c) an offer of a paid internship with New Ҷֱ Steel that would assist the recipient with completing practical work requirements for the BE(Hons) degree. If an offer is accepted, the internship would be held over the summer at the end of the first year of tenure of the scholarship. A second paid summer internship, to be held at the end of the second year of tenure, may also be offered.

Details: To recognise and support promising female Engineering students at the Ҷֱ. Applicants must be female and Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.Applicants must be enrolled full-time at the University in the Second Year of a BE(Hons) degree specialising in one of the following areas: (a) Chemical and Process Engineering, (b) Electrical and Electronic Engineering, (c) Mechanical Engineering, or (d) Mechatronics Engineering.

Value: Financial assistance to the value of $2,500 for one year

Details: To support students studying full-time structural, geotechnical, or earthquake Engineering in their Fourth Year of the BE(Hons) (Civil) programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Ҷֱ. Applicants must have completed their Third Year of the BE(Hons) degree in the year prior to the year of application, and achieved an average of at least A- (equivalent of GPA of 7.0) in each of their Second and Third years of the BE(Hons)(Civil) programme.

Value: Financial assistance to the value of $300

Details: To encourage the pursuit of excellence in both recreational and academic endeavours. Applicants must be completing their Third Year of the BE(Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and haveexhibited the best combination of physical recreational/sporting and academic achievements in that year.

Closing date: Applications, including a recreational/sporting CV must be made to the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering by 30 September.

Value: Financial assistance at the value of $1,000 for one year

Details: To encourage and promote undergraduate study in the area of agricultural engineering. Applicants must have been born in Aotearoa New Ҷֱ, and enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor's degree of Bachelor's degree with honours that includes at least one course in agricultural engineering.

Value: Financial assistance at the value of $8,000 for one year; plus provided a suitable position is available, Riley Consultants Ltd may offer the recipient paid employment during the summer vacation at the end of the tenure.

Details: To assist and encourage students studying Civil or Natural Resources Engineering at UC into a career specialising in the areas of geotechnical, water resources, or civil engineering. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in the Second or Third Year of a BE(Hons) degree programme, specialising in Civil Engineering or Natural Resources Engineering. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.

Details: To support undergraduate engineering students in their Second or Third Year at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Ҷֱ who demonstrate the potential to become outstanding professional engineers. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.

Closing date: 31 March

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $5,000 for one year.

Details: To promote student interest in the application of engineering principles to the ongoing development of the oil and gas industry; provide an awareness of the petroleum industry in New Ҷֱ; and to encourage students to seek career opportunities in New Ҷֱ within the oil and gas industry. Applicants must be enrolled in either their Third or Fourth Year of BE(Hons) degree, with an intention to proceed to postgraduate study. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens.

Closing date: 31 March

Value: Tuition fees support up to a value of $10,000 for one year; plus, provided a suitable position is available, Stantec NZ may offer the recipient paid employment during the summer at the end of the year of tenure.

Details: To encourage and support students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Ҷֱ to undertake a career in the three waters, public health, or environmental areas of engineering. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in the Third Year of a BE(Hons) degree programme in Civil Engineering or Natural Resources Engineering.

Closing date: 31 March

Value: Financial assistance to the value of $1,500 for one year;plus, provided suitable positions are available, Tait Communications may offer scholarship recipients paid employment during the summer vacation at the end of the year of tenure.

Details: To support full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the Third or Fourth Year in a BE(Hons) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UC, particularly those who are studying in the field of communications engineering and who share Steven Bly's interest in the “great outdoors”. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.

Details: To assist students in Civil Engineering who face financial difficulty completing the Third Year of a programme for a BE(Hons) at UC. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.

Value:Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study to the value of $5,000 for one year;plus, Tait Communications may offer a recipient paid employment during the summer vacation following tenure, provided a suitable position is available.

Details: To support undergraduate students in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Software Engineering at UC. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in one of the following: (a) the Third or Fourth Year of a BE(Hons) degree specialising in either Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or Software Engineering; (b) a 300-level programme for a BSc or BSc(Hons) majoring in Computer Science. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.

Value: Financial assistance to the value of $5,000 for one year.

Details: To support full-time undergraduate Civil Engineering students in their Second or Third Year at UC who demonstrate the potential to lead the next generation of industry professionals through education, learning and research. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens or permanent residents.

Value:Varies - scholarships will be made available as projects and funds become available.

Details:To support students undertaking short term research projects and other experiments to provide a foundation for their studies in the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering at UC. Applicants must be intending to undertake a programme of study within the Department of Civil & Natural Resources Engineering at UC within 12 months of the completion of tenure.

Value: Prize is a monetary award at the value of $500 per submitted publication.

Details:A student may receive a prize for each eligible publication they submit during their enrolment in undergraduate studies in the Faculty of Engineering at UC (see Regulations for specific conditions).

Closing date: Applications must be made to the UC Engineering prior to 31 December in the year of publication.

Value: Financial assistance to the value of $3,000 for one year.

Details: To support students entering a Bachelor of Forestry Science degree programme at UC. Applicants must be intending to enrol full-time in the Second or Third Year of study for a Bachelor of Forestry Science degree programme at UC in the year following application.

Closing date: 17 February

Value: Financial assistance at the value of $10,000 for one year.

Details: Funded by the Wood Industry Development and Education (WIDE) Trust, this scholarship is to support undergraduate study related to Forestry at UC. Applicants must be enrolled, or intending to enrol, full-time at UC in one of the following: (a) the First Year of a BForSc programme; or (b) the Second Year of a BE(Hons) programme in Forest Engineering in the year following application. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ҷֱ citizens.
